The lab in September 2021

We are recruiting students and postdocs. The lab’s current focus is on understanding evolution in the microbiome, but, there are many opportunities available to study other natural populations (e.g. Drosophila and non model organisms). We utilize a variety of statistical, computational, and theoretical methods. The lab is based in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department at UCLA  and also is affiliated with the Bioinformatics program, the Human Genetics department, and the UCLA Microbiome Center.

Prospective postdoctoral fellows:

Prospective postocs should send me a 1-2 page description (cover letter) of their past and future research interests, as well as their CV and contact information for 3 references.

Prospective graduate students:

Prospective graduate students can apply to any of the following PhD programs at UCLA: Ecology and Evolutionary BiologyBioinformatics, and Human Genetics. Students should be sure to specify me as a potential PhD mentor so that I see your application. Please also contact me by email so that I can make sure that I receive your application and so that we can discuss the best program fit for your application.

Undergraduates:

Undergraduates interested in research should email me with their academic interests, coursework, and past research or programming experience (if any). Students should ideally be available to work in the lab for 1 year, including 1 summer. We routinely accept students through the summer Bruins in Genomics program.
